I have downloaded a blue ray movie in .mkv format. When I play it there seem a problem in sound and picture synchronization. What shall I do?

I trying to get a PS3 and i come from a christian home. Recently our TVG dvd vcr player broke. So I trying to get a PS3 while getting my family TVG movies. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

The whole HDMI business is a nightmare with newer TV’s, blu-ray players, and receivers all trying to do something to the signal along the way. Particularly in the case of the PS3 which is the best blu-ray player and outputs 1080p/24 amazingly well, such that I wouldn’t want some stupid receiver to mess with that video signal at all. However, the HD Cable box only outputs 1080i so it would be fine to “upscale” that video input. I’ve read manuals from various Onkyo receivers, and it seems like the only option is the output resolution of the HDMI output itself, which overrides any other setting. For example, you can set the output to 1080p, 1080i, etc., or PASS THROUGH, but not a unique output for a particular interface (input). Please help!

Now i don’t wanna sound like a idiot but I hear all this stuff about 1080p being the best, blu-ray players play 1080p, HDMI cords are 1080p, ps3 plays 1080p with a HDMI cords, ps3 games are blu-ray disk formated which play 1080p, and then the blu-ray movies themselves are 1080p.
Well not to sound stupid but is there anything that plays above 1080p like its there a 1500p or something? anyone that can explain some of this to many or tell me about anything that plays above 1080p would help.

Ok this isn’t a biased question or some way getting involved in the console wars, but is there any point in buying a PS3? I currently have an xbox 360, and nobody can deny that for the last few years 360 has and still does have the best games. My mates all have PS3’s which i would be interested in getting but i dont see many games worth playing on it apart from Metal Gear and maybe resistance 2. I personally think the console as a stand-alone is a better console but is it really worth spending £300 on smoother game-play and less games? I’ll say this again to make the point clear i am not disregarding the PS3 in any way im just giving my point of view before people start posting their damn fanboy comments

I don’t own any console and money is sort of a problem ( RECESSION!) I was going to get a PlayStation 3 but now i don’t see a point (for me at least) because it’s $400 and comes with no games or headset. ( i don’t own blue tooth headsets) My friend says PS Home sucks. It’s a blue-ray player. but the problem with that though is 1) I’m going to be using a SD TV and 2) I’m not a movie person anyways. I like my cheap $10 bootlegged or rented dvd’s. It has built in wifi ( i like that feature). the wifi thing I could use a cord if i had to ( but ill say it again. I’d wifi is better).

Gaming is mostly my thing. and i did have the original xbox which broke. ( i broke it. from screwing up a mod) I have some games like Halo 2 which i haven’t finished. I’m thinking about getting an xbox 360 because i have 7 original xbox games, and it comes with a headset. and it’s well cheaper. Right around the $250 sweet spot.

So im saying if I don’t want to leverage my console as a movie player, or photo viewer, don’t have an HDTV or surround sound,the ps3 is not for me.
I don’t think it sucks but im thinking. Maybe i should get an xbox 360 instead of the playstation 3 because im mostly into gaming. I don’t like the idea of paying $50 a year but that gives me 13 months to save up again. Instead of dishing $400 in one blow….PlayStation 3 has some good titles coming out but i mean $400 to get that. and then save up for an actual game. and then headset. that’s $500 and i’d feel stupid too if i paid $500 on a system which orbits around Blueray and i wouldn’t use it at all either! HD Gaming isn’t also something i care to much about. I’m fine with Halo 2 graphics.

So would you Play station owners say i should just get an xbox 360 for now? Also i hear some one say the ps3 will last until 2016. now with that said. I’m thinking i should get an xbox 360. It will probably last another 2 -3 years and by then, PlayStation 3 will have more games and a cheaper price tag?

what would you say? sorry if it sounds like a rant. xbox 360? Get what i want for the fraction of the price? Or would you STILL say i should get a playstation 3. Please dont tell me the xbox 360 breaks I know that. and i feel sort of safe knowing i got a 3 year warranty for 2 of it’s biggest problems..
