I have a regular DVD player on my laptop, but the place where I buy most of my DVDs mainly sell blue-ray, so I’ve been shopping elsewhere. Can blue-ray discs play on non-blue ray players?

I currently have an rca 32′ 720p hi-def tv that i use for gaming and watching movies on. I was wondering is it would be worth it to spend the extra 10$ or so on the blu ray discs instead of the regular dvds. I know that sounds kinda stupid but i dont want to be wasting money (i buy alot of movies) if i wont notice a difference because of my tv screen size. I would be willing to pay it if the quality would be alot better though.

I noticed while watching Planet Earth that the picture wasn’t as good as some of the HD channels, do I need an HD DVD player? I know there is Blu-Ray, but I don’t want that – just the best picture possible for non-Blu-Ray movies (such as Planet Earth)

I need to buy a new DVD player because mine stopped working. I don’t know much about DVD technology, so I’m not sure if I should buy another standard DVD player, or if it would be a better move to go with a BluRay device. Will all dvd’s be BluRay in the near future, or will there still be standard discs? I don’t have an HD TV set yet (I don’t know if that makes a difference or not). Thanks for your help!!

I read in Parade Magazine about the difference between Blu-Ray DVD players and HD DVD players, and it said something about recording DVDs on the player itself…I think. I just wanna be sure if we decide to get one. Can anyone help me out?

How are game developers able to put high definition content on a dual layered DVD Disc for the 360? I mean, wouldn’t they have to lessen the quality.

The PS3’s bluray disc can have up to 50gigs of space. But come on, how are developers able to put a game that is about 30 gigs via ps3 (if they ever decided to make a game that huge) on a XBOX 360 dual layered DVD disc?

What was Microsoft thinking?
I know they couldn’t possibly compress that much data on this single DVD disc…….
I’m not a “fanboy” of either system because I don’t own any of them. I have just been researching.
