how do i get 5.1 dolby digital from a blu ray player with out a separate amplifier?
This is my set up at the moment.. I have a 1080p lcd tv which is connected to a sky plus box via scart and a panasonic 5.1 surround sound system.
When i purchased the tv i got a blu-ray player included as a package. My panasonic dvd player and sky box runs in surround 5.1 dolby digital. ( have had he panasonic dvd with 5.1 surround for 2 months now) Just got the lcd and blu ray 1 week ago) How do i connect my blu ray player so i can get 5.1 surround sound without buying a separate amplifier.
I have 3 hdmi ports on the tv … 1 hdmi on the blu ray player.
and 1 hdm on the panasonic dvd player As the panasonic has 5.1 surround already is there a way of connecting the blu ray player to the tv or dvd player so i can use the internal 5.1 amp on the panasonic to get 5.1 via the blu ray player.
Would appeciate any help.
Thankyou

Which Up-converting DVD player SHOULD I buy? 10 points to the best answer.?
Which Upconverting DVD player should I buy?
Since I’m completly not interested in buying an HD-DVD player or a Blu-Ray player until the prices come down and their is a clearer winner between to the two, I need an upconverting DVD player.
Im deciding between:
Philips DVP5960
Samsung DVD HD860 (the HD 960 is more money but does it play more files?)
Sony DVP-NS75H
(You can mention/recommend another if you like)
I’ve got a 42 inch plasma that does a beautiful 1080i picture and I’m LOOKING for the unit that has the best picture quality but can play burned DVD-Rs/DVD+Rs the best.
I’ll hook it up through HDMI with HDMI cables I got from monoprice.com (I refuse to buy Monster cables for those prices).
If anyone has one of these players or has another than please, by all means say something.
Which Sony Blu Ray player should I buy?
Here’s the deal. I need a Blu-Ray player. I can get a Sony BDP-S1 for “free” with my American Express points (I have a lot of them, might as well use them for something cool). But, I am aware of the fact that there are some newer models out there; namely the Sony BDP-S500 and BDP-S300, and that the BDP-S1 has been discontinued.
I am fortunate, I can go out an buy one in the store and it’s no big deal. But like anyone else, I would prefer not have to shell out the cash. I suppose the real question is then this:
Are the BDP-S300 & 500 so much better than the BDP-S1 that I should go out and buy one, or will the BDP-S1 suit me just fine.
Some points that might help you answer this… I have a 52″ Sony Bravia XBR4 LCD television. I don’t have a surround sound system at the moment whereas we just purchased a new home, but in the future may have something put in the living room.
Or, should I be considering a different brand altogether? All insights are appreciated. Thanks!
