Blu Ray Technology

I have the 80GB PS3 (MGS4 Edition). When loading any Blu-ray movie- the system seems to reset, then there’s some snow along with popping in the audio, followed by a solid color (purplish). This issue occurs 7 times out of 10. Is this typical? I have my system set to “Disc auto-start off.” It’s definitely not the HDMI cable or the TV. (The TV is a Samsung LN-T4671F)
