Can you use a samsung BluRay DVD player withoout a Samsung TV?

Today I bought a Samsung BluRay DVD player model number BD-1600. The reason I got it was so that I could watch Netflix On Demand. We had to hook it up to the internet so we could. I have comcast wireless, linksys. It would not work. I called the support line but they said that the problem was that I had the wrong TV. I had to have a Samsung TV to work with it. I am trying to get a second opinion on that, just to be sure. As I said that only reason we got a really expensive one is so I could watch Netflix On Demand.

If the bluray plugs into the internet, you don’t need a Samsung TV and their comment is absurd. I did find other people reporting the same sort of problem though.

    A few things:

    1. The problem is not the TV. Maybe if your issue had to due with CEC, but it doesn’t.

    2. In order to help figure out the problem or to offer some suggestions, we would need more details than “I have comcast, linksys. It wouldn’t work”.

    3. MSRP on the BD-P1600 is about $300. Since you said it was “really expensive” I’m guessing you either got ripped off or you think $300 is expensive.
